Bio

Ben spent his childhood travelling the world by boat with his father, an author and photographer, and his mother, a teacher. This unusual upbringing developed an early interest in story and culture. With a formal education in history, Ben’s career path began in games design, writing freelance for US companies Palladium, Pinnacle, and Warner Bros., before moving into screenwriting and directing. His first screenplay All Flesh Must be Eaten won the Inside Film What IF? Award and his debut feature Wasted on the Young premiered to rave reviews at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival. Ben is now an award-winning director and screenwriter.

With a British residency permit, Ben is able to work between London and Sydney and in 2023 completed post on the Disney+ action-adventure series Nautilus, released on AMC in North America, Prime Video in the UK and Stan in Australia, and is in the final post stages of The Survivors, a Jane Harper novel adaptation produced by Tony Ayres Productions for Netflix.

Other recent television work includes the Amazon series The Wilds for ABC Signature and Australian dramas like the Foxtel original series Fighting Season starring Jay Ryan, Ewen Leslie and Kate Mulvany; My Life is Murder staring Lucy Lawless; Informer 3838, the latest instalment of the Underbelly series for Screentime and the Nine Network staring Ella Scott Lynch; Darby & Joan for Acorn starring Bryan Brown and Greta Scacchi and After the Verdict for the Nine Network, starring Sullivan Stapleton, Magda Scubanski and Michelle Lim Davidson.

Ben's directorial debut Wasted on the Young, starring Oliver Ackland, Alex Russell and Adelaide Clemens, premiered at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and screened in competition at Busan, SxSW, Torino and the Sydney Film Festival. Wasted was released by Paramount Pictures in Australia, Momentum Pictures in the UK and Indomina in the US before being acquired by Netflix.

Ben's second feature, sci-fi thriller OtherLife, starring Jessica de Gouw, premiered at Sydney Film Festival in 2017 and was acquired worldwide by Netflix.

Ben is currently attached to direct several feature and TV projects with partners in the US, UK and Australia.
